The 2022 Dana Open may live on as a milestone in Gaby Lopez’s mind, partly for the win, but definitely for the reassurance as a great player. The mental aspect of golf is as important (probably more) than great equipment. We applaud Gaby’s persistence as she overcame injuries and self-doubt to triumph against some very strong competitors. Not to mention she came from 4-strokes behind and birdied the last 3 holes to secure her win.
With the help from Women’s Golf Journal and LPGA, we peak into Gaby’s winning equipment.
Gaby Lopez’s winning set of Titleist and TaylorMade at the 2022 Dana Open
- Top of the Bag: Driver: Titleist TSi3 10 degrees with a Mitsubishi Diamana TB-Series shaft. 3-wood: TaylorMade SIM 15 degrees also with a Mitsubishi Diamana TB-Series shaft. Hybrid: Titleist TSi3 19 degrees with a KBS Tour Hybrid 70 S Shaft.
Mitsubishi did a great job building out tremendous versatility in the Diamana TB-Series shaft. In particular, we loved how the TB-Series stacked up well against Accra, Project X Hzrdus, Graphite Design and others in our Best 2022 Driver and Shaft combinations – read the full review. - Irons: Titleist T200 4-iron with a KBS Tour Hybrid 70 S Shaft. Titleist T100 5-iron through PW with the Accra iSeries Shafts.
Earlier this year, we saw JT Poston among other PGA and LPGA Tour players also incorporate a stronger utility iron over hybrids. In Lopez’s case, it replaces the 4-iron, better filling the distance gap between her 5-iron and hybrid. If you struggle with long irons, switching to hybrids isn’t the only option and might not be the best option. Schedule your iron fitting today to see how to optimize control, accuracy and performance of long irons. - Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM9 50, 54, and 60 degrees with the Nippon Modus 3 105 White Shafts.
- Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour
